Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it! For those who don’t, I hope you had a lovely winter day, full of hope and joy.
Here’s a passage about Christmas from one of my favorite authors, Anne Lamott. I love her because she is so open and honest about her own fears and weaknesses. She reminds me that as important as service to others is, being Christian is about being broken and remembering that I can’t do everything on my own.
“It’s not that I don’t have a lot of faith that God will heal us. It’s just that I also have a lot of mental problems. And I want to fix them now. … So I’ll tell you what the promise of Advent is: It is that God has set up a tent among us and will help us work together on our stuff. And this will only happen over time.”
